Those little blue specks in your toothpaste are very appealing and we might think they help freshen our breath, but in fact they are actually little tiny bits of Polyethylene plastic. Crest adds them to some of their toothpastes for cosmetic reasons only. They do not dissolve in the mouth and we have found little bits of plastic under the tissue in some patients. It could cause some irritation, just like a popcorn hull can.

Thank you for info on Crest ingredients. Of the 9 additional ingredients listed, 9 of 9 have corn in them. For those with a CORN allergy it would be nice if Crest would simply note their product has corn in it.
