What Should You Do If a Permanent Tooth Gets Knocked Out?

What should you do if a permanent tooth gets knocked out?  Remain calm and find the tooth that was knocked out.  To avoid damage to the root, hold the tooth by its crown and not by the root. Once you have located the tooth, gently rinse it with water and push it back into the socket.  If that is not possible, place the tooth in a glass of milk and/or saliva and in ALL cases contact your dentist immediately.  If after hours, most dental offices have an emergency number to call.  Here at Commerce Drive Dental, please call the office at (507) 345-7786 for emergency contact information.
