Your toothbrush should be changed every 3 months. After 3 months of normal use, toothbrushes are less effective at removing plaque from teeth and gums compared to a new toothbrush. The toothbrush bristles break down, bend, and just become less effective.
It is also important to change your toothbrush after you have had a cold, the flu, sore throat and any other mouth infection. Even if you haven’t been sick, bacteria can develop over time in the toothbrush bristles; this is another good reason to change your toothbrush regularly!
