Periodontal/Gum Disease – What Are Your Numbers?

Most people don’t know if they have periodontal/gum disease or not.  There is usually no pain involved so the patient is not aware of it.  The only way to know if you have periodontal/gum disease is to go to the dentist and have radiographs (x-rays) taken (to see if there has been any bone loss around the teeth) and perio charting done.  Normal measurement between the gum and tooth should be 1-3 mm’s.  If your measurements are over 3 mm’s you have some form of periodontal/gum disease.

This holiday season and for the new year to come, give yourself the “gift” of knowing your numbers for periodontal/gum disease.  The earlier you treat periodontal/gum disease the better the prognosis!  Call us today at 507-345-7786 if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment to “check your numbers!”
