Had a check up lately?? Regular dental visits are important not only to check the health of your teeth, but also the rest of your mouth!
– from Megan W. (Dental Assistant)
Oral cancer can occur in any part of the mouth, including the tongue, lips, cheeks, gums, roof and floor of the mouth, tonsils, and salivary glands. Most patients have no detectable symptoms during early stages of oral cancer, which is why we always check for symptoms when you are being seen in our office.
Oral cancer risk factors include smoking, chewing tobacco, heavy alcohol consumption, too much sun exposure on lips, and HPV. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns about oral cancer at your next check-up!
