Minnesota Board of Dentistry and Continuing Education

The mission of the Minnesota Board of Dentistry is to ensure that citizens living in Minnesota receive quality dental health care from competent dental health professionals.  Dental health professionals are required to take continuing education courses to maintain a dental license and stay up to date on the latest technology and research.  A dentist has to earn up to 50 dental continuing educational credits, a dental hygienist and a dental assistant have to earn up to 25 continuing educational credits within a 2 year cycle.  One great way to earn CE credits is to attend the State and National Dental Conventions held every year. This October, our wonderful dentists took a staff of over 20 employees to the National Dental Convention in San Antonio, Texas.  At the convention, I attended 5 different continuing education meetings discussing the latest dental hygiene topics, business, nutrition and health and wellness.  I was given valuable information I could pass on to my patients in practice and use in my home life as well.  It was fun spending time with my co-workers out of the office and in a warmer state!  I came back to Minnesota excited about what I learned at the dental convention and energized to continue to practice quality dental hygiene.
